Certainly Woods Summer Stays: Caffyns Farm
What is Caffyns?
Caffyns Farm is a popular glamping and camping site, situated in Lynton, North Devon. Providing boutique and unique camping & glamping holidays, Caffyns gives you the space and freedom to not only reconnect with yourself, but also with nature. The seclusion, space and views are unparalleled and create a stress- free and relaxing atmosphere, perfect for couples, individuals and familys.
What can you expect from Caffyns?
Caffyns is less than a 10 minute walk from Lynton and Lynmouth and near to all the North Devon towns, tourist attractions and beaches. Days out are never afar and there is always something for the family when down at Caffyns. Caffyns actually provide their own activities, including horse riding, cycling, BBQs and walks & hikes around their acres of tranquil countryside.
We recently had the opportunity to sit down with Colin from Caffyns:
When we asked how Caffyns started here's what he had to say:
He had always visited Exmoor, and loved the area, as his young family were growing up he decided a for lifestyle change. He re–located to North Devon with no regrets. Originally they leased a farm which had a small campsite and this gave them an introduction to running a campsite before later settling for a permanent location at Caffyns Farm, Lynton, back in 2011. This is now a working farm with farm shop producing their own homegrown Exmoor cider, pony trekking and family friendly campsite all set on the stunning North Devon valley of the rocks coast line.
Why do you feel campfires are important?
"It’s the social aspect , bringing everyone together young and old, cooking a BBQ or having a sing song with a guitar into the evening. It creates one central focal point, what’s not to love!"
Why do you buy from Certainly Wood?
"We originally bought logs for the campsite from a local company who were cheaper, but they just weren’t dry enough and as we are busy running all aspects of the farm we wanted logs that light in an instant and don’t fail. We get both those things with Certainly Wood logs, for both profit and practicality it made sense to use Certainly Wood.
What's your ultimate campfire recipe?
Without a doubt marinated Chicken in a pan, it’s so easy.I tell my campers marinade your chicken before you go out and explore the local area for the day, store in a cool box come back and enjoy that evening!! Though my dog would always say Sausages…
Finally, can you set the record straight... is it jam or cream first on the scone?
Well, as we are in Devon, it's clotted cream first, then strawberry jam on top! Cornwall do Jam first, the debate of which is best will run and run I'm sure!
