FAQs

What are Oak Pizza Logs used for?

Oak Pizza Logs are kiln dried oak sticks designed for two main uses: as kindling to bring a large, permanent pizza oven up to cooking temperature quickly, or as the primary fuel source in smaller, portable pizza ovens where full-size logs won't fit. Oak pizza sticks catch and heat up faster, which matters when you want your oven ready to cook within minutes rather than waiting for a full log to establish. Read more in our Ultimate Guide to Oak Firewood.

Can Oak Pizza Logs be used in a wood-burning stove, or only a pizza oven?

Yes, Oak Pizza Logs can be used in a wood-burning stove, but they're primarily designed for pizza ovens. In a stove, their smaller size means they're best used as kindling to quickly establish a fire, rather than as your main fuel. For this purpose, our Standard Kindling or Mega Kindling offer a more cost-effective option. If you're looking for logs to heat your home, our standard 25cm kiln dried log ranges provide a longer burn and better value for everyday stove use.

What's the moisture content of Oak Pizza Logs?

Oak Pizza Logs are kiln dried to below 12% moisture, drier than our standard firewood range (below 20%), which helps them ignite almost immediately, important when you want a pizza oven to reach temperature quickly rather than waiting for a slower-drying log to catch. This lower moisture also means less smoke, which matters for flavour when cooking food over an open flame.

How are Oak Pizza Logs packaged and delivered?

Oak Pizza Logs are hand-packed into cardboard boxes with no plastic packaging, available in quantities from 1 to 10 boxes, and delivered by courier as a small parcel within 1-2 working days of ordering. Because there's no plastic wrap involved, keep the box dry and undercover until you're ready to use it, since the cardboard offers no protection against rain and the sticks can reabsorb moisture if left exposed outdoors.
