Compare the market

Buying firewood is not as simple as it first seems. As more and more people buy efficient wood burning stoves they begin to realise that, like anything, it must have the right fuel.

Not only are there hundreds, if not thousands of small firewood producers around the country but firewood is supplied in a huge variety of qualities and volumes.

This page is to designed to help inform you of the overall market and what potential pitfalls to look out for.

To start with we are looking at volumes of bulk deliveries.

By Volume

Whilst mostly sold by weight which makes no sense as heavier logs are wetter, more and
more suppliers are moving to supply by volume which is correct and the most common
volume is now a ‘cubic metre’ sold in bulk bags, but are you getting the full cubic metre? -
Lets see.

We have used a metal cage as our benchmark measurement.

The cubic metre cage measures 1m x 1m x1m.

The 1.5 cubic  metre cage meaures 1m x 1m x 1.5m
